Girl Up Caribbean was founded in 2023 by a group of driven and compassionate youth from across the Caribbean who shared a vision: to amplify the voices of those who often go unheard. Witnessing the challenges faced by young people in their communities—ranging from inequality to limited access to platforms for self-expression—they realized it was time to act.
On October 2023, we have launched our first annual Conference on gender justice that brought together non profit organizations, climate activists, civil societies and young leaders around the world to discuss on transitional justice measures to help combat sexual abuse and prevent future violations related to gender.
In February 2024, Girl Up Caribbeans organized an online workshop on sexual abuse. The goal of the workshop was to help create a safe environment for open discussions about preventing “CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE”,this event was led by our Regional Director, Riya Sharma, Dr. Ramya Nisal, an expert in the field. Together, we have explored dynamics, signs of cild abuse and interventions to raise awareness on the topic.
Girl Up Caribbeans has partnered with many organizations such as : She's The First, to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and the pervasive issue of period poverty. Our collective efforts aim to ensure that more girls can access the fundamental resources and knowledge they need to manage their menstrual health effectively
